L'Hirondelle Club has a long history of providing tennis enthusiasts a great environment for learning and perfecting their game.

Tony James, our Director of Racquet Sports, brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to L'Hirondelle. 
Originally from New Zealand,Tony is a University of Maryland graduate, having attended on a full tennis scholarship.  As a player, Tony was the winner of 15
Mid-Atlantic and Maryland State titles, and he excels as a coach working with all levels of abilities.  In 2004,Tony was awarded the prestigious Maury Swartzmann Award for Player Development.  A year earlier, he was the coach of the Mid-Atlantic USTA 3.5 Men's National championship winning team.  Directing the tennis and paddle activities of Baltimore's most vibrant racquets club keeps Tony busy, but never too busy to be on the court coaching L'Hirondelle members and conveying his passion both for our club and its stellar programs.

L'Hirondelle members are the first players locally to be on the courts in the spring.  Our courts open the first week of April so our members are able to enjoy a long season of tennis - April through October, or later, depending on the weather.  In 2010 the courts were still in use into November.

Tony James is available to help players of all levels from beginners to tournament players advance their game and help L'Hirondelle members enjoy their time on the courts.

The tennis pro shop offers the latest in equipment, L'H apparel and accessories.

A wide range of services are available from Tony and his staff, including clinics, lessons, leagues, ball machine, tournaments and socials.

Each summer, junior players are invited to Tony's tennis camps to learn technique, improve their game, and enjoy a sport they will play for a lifetime.
 

Paddle Tennis

L'Hirondelle is home to the premier Paddle Tennis facility in the Baltimore area. In addition to a full - time Professional teaching staff, we are home for 6 paddle courts and a large Paddle Hut to house the Paddle Shop, and a large area for members and guests to enjoy a beverage, watch matches on the adjacent courts or just relax in front of the flat screen TV.
